Julie is a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years experience gained from working with children, adolescents, families and adults, in both the public and private sectors. She holds a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University and an honours degree in psychology from the University of New South Wales. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and holds memberships with the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the College of Clinical Psychologists and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and is an author of numerous publications.Julie first started her private practice in 1999, prior to working in private practice, Julie worked in a variety of settings including the 'Black Dog Institute', ‘The Avoca Clinic’ at the Prince of Wales Hospital, and in the School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales and in various private schools and community health. Julie supervises other Psychologists and often consults to various schools. She has recently assisted with the development and facilitation of a school support group for mothers of children with special needs.
Julie's past professional experiences have cultivated a particular interest in child and adult anxiety, depression and parenting difficulties. As a clinician, Julie provides evidence-based therapy, some of which include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Therapies, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Parent training.
In assessing her clients’ individual difficulties, Julie is dedicated to helping empower her clients to develop the tools and skills necessary to overcome the challenges they may face with an encouraging, empathic and understanding approach.
